A roof over your head – the face of the housing crisis

Exhibition june - september 2018. Civilian Act has produced the Fotografiska For Life exhibition A roof over your head – the face of the housing crisis. In the exhibition we get to meet people affected by this harmful development and to witness the negative repercussions for both individuals and the whole of society. The exhibition was displayed on Fotografiska's fasade, as well as in the ruins of Saint Catherine's church on the island of Gotland during Almedalen Week, a major annual political event in Sweden 2-5 juli 2018.

Childmothers / PLAN & UNFPA   Every year, an estimated two million girls give birth before they turn 15. Young girls face the greatest risk of complications from pregnancy and childbirth. These girls are often invisible in statistics and excluded from development interventions. We produced the film series and exhibition child mothers in cooperation with Plan Sweden and UNFPA.

Testimonies from north Caucasus / Civil Right Defenders   In the northern Caucasus a bloody conflict between Russian authorities and radical Islam has been fought for many years. Civilian Act, together with Civil Rights Defenders, has met survivor family members and reproduces the victims stories in a striking short film.

Kitezh-Vladimirskoe   The small town of Vladimirskoe is located in the Russian countryside and has struggled to survive after the fall of Communism. But it's also a mythical city. According to legend, a lake nearby hides the mysterious city of Kitezh, which only reveals to people with open heart. Maternal Health Series / London School Of Hygiene   Production in cooperation with the London school of Hygiene and Tropical medicine. The series concludes with a five point agenda for change: good quality care for every women, every newborn, everywhere; equally through Universal health system resilience, strength and responsiveness: sustainable financing for maternal and newborn health; and better evidence, advocacy, and accountability for progress.

Spirit for Change / Hand in Hand, Fotografiska

When people in India create jobs for themselves by transforming waste products into new raw materials many life- and hope-giving processes are triggered. It creates a Spirit for Change, a belief in a different life and a brighter future. This is the topic of the Fotografiska for Life exhibition, Spirit for Change, showcasing photographer Pieter ten Hoopen’s film and images of Indian entrepreneurs in the area of sustainable environmental work.

Ikoner / Fotografiska   Fotografiska is an international meeting place where everything revolves around photography. Civilian Act produced the short movie Ikoner - a documentary about the right to exist.  The film genuinely includes a group of people that rarely get noticed in history, though they've always been there. We believe in everyone's right to exist.

Childmothers / Exhibition UN Headquarters, Geneva 2017   Michael Møller, the Director-General of United Nations Office at Geneva opens the exhibition Childmothers. After two years of work we were able to make the voices heard of the children in this important project. The young mothers were exhibited during three weeks at the UN headquarters in Geneva.

Hungry Horse / Mediastorm   The film and exhibition Hungry Horse investigates the fight against poverty, drugs and loneliness in today's United States. The film captures at the same time the spirit of renewal, peace and quiet in the lives of those people documented through intimate stories. In the 36th edition of the Emmy Awards for Documentaries, Hungry Horse was nominated in the Art, Lifestyle & Culture category.

Civilian Act have documented how children in the Philippines were affected by the typhoon Haiyan 2013. During one year we have followed children and their families after the disaster. In the exhibition Haiyan 365 days, the viewer gets to follow from the first shocking weeks to life slowly starting again.
